Following the unveiling of Sony Xperia XZ2 in February, Sony has now announced the Xperia XZ2 Premium, an even more advanced handset with an enhanced camera. Last week, Sony introduced an upgrade to the Sony Xperia XZ2, which was unveiled at MWC 2018 earlier this year. Although the company has retained the design of the XZ2, the XZ2 Premium is equipped with an enhanced camera among other spec upgrades. Sony’s latest offering boasts a 4K HDR display as the highest resolution screen ever known in a smartphone. “The world’s only smartphone with 4K HDR Movie recording and 4K HDR display so you can capture stunning 4K HDR movies and play them back directly in the palm of your hand,” Sony said in its announcement. The device has a dual camera setup on the rear panel with ultra-sensitive cameras. This feature allows users to capture videos at ISO 12,800 sensitivity, said to be the highest ever on a smartphone, and photos at a whopping ISO 51,200, enabling them to capture media in almost complete darkness.

The smartphone also boasts a Motion Eye camera that is capable of recording extreme slow motion videos at 960 fps.

The XZ2 XZ2 Premium has a 6GB RAM as opposed to the 4GB RAM of its predecessor.

The XZ2 Premium has a slightly larger 5.8-inch 4K HDR display, an improvement over the 5.7-inch Full HD display of the XZ2. Both models support HDR video. The Premium model’s dual camera has one 19-megapixel camera and a 12-megapixel snapper on the rear panel, whereas the XZ2 has a single 19-megapixel shooter. The front-facing camera of the XZ2 receives an upgrade to a 13-megapixel on the Premium version.
