MUSCAT: A number of wilayats received rain of varying amounts accompanied by wind and hail on Saturday. The rain caused some wadis to overflow, and reduced the temperatures. Roads in some areas were shut due to falling rocks from mountain tops and water logging.
Light to heavy rain were reported in the wilayats of Samayil, Al Rustaq, Izki, Al Hamra, Ibri, Dima W’attayeen.
Formation of clouds is expected to continue today with chances of scattered rain and occasionally thunder showers on Al Hajar mountains and the surrounding wilayats in the afternoon, according to Directorate-General of Meteorology and Air Navigation (DGMAN) at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation.
The weather will be cloudy on the over Dhofar Governorate and the adjacent mountains with chances of drizzle. The Oman meteorological department also predicts late night to early morning foggy conditions and formation of and low-level clouds on much of the coastal areas with probability of drizzle and thunder showers.
