MUSCAT, JAN 5 - The Royal Oman Police (ROP) will celebrate on Sunday its annual day, which falls on January 5 every year. Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, will preside over the graduation of cadet officers at the Military Parade Ground of the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in Nizwa.
The ceremony will be attended by ministers, advisers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, ROP and security services, court justices, directors of government establishments, dignitaries of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and families of the graduates.
ROP has been given great attention by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, stemming from his belief in security as a key pillar of development.
While marking its annual day, ROP feels proud of the development and progress it has made in the security and service fields.
Since its foundation, ROP has been striving to keep pace with the developments taking place in the Sultanate in all fields to provide a security umbrella, and protect the rights and liberties of citizens and residents.
In the last few years, ROP has made huge strides, applying scientific strategies to keep pace with the changes. This has enabled ROP to handle all forms of crime and protect members of the public.
ROP has been lauded by the Global Competitiveness Report 2018, published recently by the World Economic Forum. ROP has been ranked first in the Arab world on the ‘Reliability of Police Services’ index.
With the aim of enhancing police services across the Sultanate, ROP in 2018 opened headquarters in the governorates of Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah and Al Wusta as well as police stations in Ruwi, Al Amerat, Taqa, Barek, Thamrait, Auqad and Al Kamil W’al Wafi.
This is in addition to service buildings in Izki and Al Kamil W’al Wafi and border outlets in Hamasa and Saara, besides the Special Task Force Police Unit in Khasab.
