The Photographic Society of Oman announced the results of the winners at Read 2018 contest which was exhibited in the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in line with the art and cultural activities of the Muscat International Book Fair.
The contest, launched under the auspices of the International Federation of Photographic Arts FIAP, aims to promote the concepts of reading and urge generations to keep reading and make it an integral part of their daily activities. Reading contributes at opening the human horizons, expanding knowledge and raising the level of culture.
Winners were as follow: Best photographer prize and the Golden FIAP medals went to Hamad al Ghilani and Xuan Han Nguyen from Vietnam.
The Silver FIAP medals went to Majid al Ameri and Hamad al Ghanboosi, while the Bronze FIAP medals went to Sayed Alireza Rajaei Shoshtari and Javad Rezaei from Iran.
The honorary medals presented by FIAP went to Karim Soliman from Egypt, Erdal Baykara, Unsal Odemis, and Mehmet Uluyurt from Turkey, Majid Hojati from Iran and Piotr Jaruga from Poland.
The honorary medals presented by PSO were granted to: Yasir al Alawiyat from Bahrain, Chandan Chakraborty from India, Mohammed al Shiakh from KSA, Abdulla al Wayil from KSA, Jurhan Sahin and Sevgi Odemis from Turkey.
Around 346 participants from 33 counties competed to get a chance to exhibit their pictures in this mega forum, and the total entries were 947 photos. However, only 143 photos were accepted for 98 photographers who reflected the daily current life with splendid photos on the importance of reading.
