MUSCAT: Rains of varying amounts battered a number of wilayats for the fifth day yesterday triggered by post-afternoon local cloud formations. Continued rainfall in some areas caused some wadis to overflow and disrupted the traffic flow. Moderate to heavy rains accompanied by active winds were reported in the governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah and Al Dhahirah. According to the Met office, formation of convective clouds should continue today with chances of scattered rains and occasionally thunder showers on the Hajar mountains. Generally, fine weather should prevail over much of the Sultanate with chances of scattered rains in the Governorate of Dhofar.
