Poetry symposium evokes standing ovation

Midhat, a poetry symposium held at the Ruwi Hotel recently evoked standing ovation by the yearning poem-lovers in the country.


The guests, a world renowned Pakistani poet, Sana Khawan and Sarwar Hussain regaled the audience for nearly an hour with masterpieces of Na’at.


Organised by Alpha Events Oman, the chief guest was Shaukat Ali Ch, outgoing Consular, Embassy of Pakistan-Muscat while Haji Muhammad Khan Qadri Mahmoodi and Safdar Ali Shaad, notable businessmen presided over the family oriented poetry evening.


Azra Aleem, compere and main coordinator of the poetry evening, welcomed the gathering. Faisal Sultan and Hussain Muhammad started the proceedings with the recitation of few verses from Holy Quran.


Ghulam Murtaza Qadri, presented a beautiful Na’at. Naveed Qamar admired Sarwar Hussain’s great contribution for promoting Na’at (homage to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). Muhammad Zaeem Akhtar, and Fahad Nawaz Cheema addressed the gathering.


Haji Muhammad Boota, Ch. Abid Majeed and Ch. Muhammad Shehzad Aslam, prominent Pakistani businessmen in Northern Batinah region, gave away a special memento to the chief guest, who was also presented a memento by Fahad Awais Munir on behalf of Alpha Events Oman. Sarwar Hussain’s heart-touching poetry and his melodious voice made the evening memorable and a great success.


Well known Omanis, Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah, Moula Baksh al Balushi, Mohammad Pervaiz Abu Haroon and Dr Asad Mahmood and Mian Muhammad Munir, Chairman, PSC-Oman, leading Pakistanis, Shahid Bashir, Mohammad Yaseen Bhatti, Shahzad Raza, Arshad Ali Khan, Muhammad Rafique Chaudhry and Tajamal Jami were present among the guests.


Chaudhary Muhammad Aslam, Pakistani industrialist and eminent community veteran in Sohar was also present at the poetry evening organised by Fahad Awais Munir.
