Nizwa, Sept 26 – Poems in praise of Al Jabal Al Akhdar were recited at a poetry evening organised recently by Public Council at Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Nizwa. Poets from different parts of the Sultanate presented the poems, most of which were about Al Jabal Al Akhdar, its nature, products and role in the country’s history. Poems were also recited about the Prophet’s migration. The event was held in cooperation with Scientific Cultural Committee of Nizwa Club, Al Khalili Council for Poetry and Cultural Committee of Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
It was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Khalili, head of Al Khalili Council for Poetry, and a number of sheikhs and poets: Sheikh Salim bin Ali al Kalbani, Moosa bin Qasour al Amri, Ali bin Moosa al Amri, Othman bin Rashid bin Said al Omairi, Rashid bin Moosa bin Rashid al Sawafi, Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Ali al Khalili, Ghosn bin Hilal bin Mohammed al Abri, Ahmed bin Hilal bin Mohammed al Abri, and Yahya bin Hamoud bin Suleiman al Husseini. Poets from Scientific Cultural Committee at Nizwa Club, Sheikh Nasser bin Mansour al Farsi, Mohammed bin Salim al Fahdi, Mahmoud bin Ali bin Mohammed al Harassi and Mohammed bin Said al Thani were present on the occasion.
Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Zaher al Abri, Chairman of Scientific Cultural Committee at Nizwa Club, said the event was part of the Cultural Committee’s programme of “activating cultural and scientific roles in society”.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Khalili made the welcome speech. At the end of the event, organisers and poets were honoured.
