Around 40 government and private bodies and more than 100 Omani companies and factories came together yesterday to explore and enhance business opportunities at Meet-the-Buyer event, which was organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) at Crowne Plaza Hotel — OCEC. The event is aimed at enhancing connections between the public and private bodies, boosting cooperation between the two sides and advancing the sales performance of Omani firms and factories.

Organised as part of PEIE’s Oman Manufacturing Group series of events and designed to familiarise Omani businesses with the opportunities available in the market, the event offered them the opportunity to meet prospective buyers, sellers, partners and collaborators. Local suppliers and officials of government and private sectors’ procurement departments came under one platform to explore ways of cooperation.

Hilal bin Hamad al Hasani, (pictured) CEO of PEIE, stated that Meet-the-Buyer event is organised to encourage the priority of purchasing locally manufactured products, discuss ways to enhance cooperation with local suppliers, and discuss obstacles and solutions.

Al Hasani added that PEIE has placed an extensive marketing plan to promote Omani products locally as well as overseas. “In addition to organising exhibitions and events at the local level, PEIE has been part of a number of international events in cooperation with the private sector during the first quarter of 2018,” he said, adding, “PEIE has taken part in the International Fair of Khartoum in January, Gulfood 2018 in UAE in February, Intl Agro Food Expo in Kuwait in March, and Malaysia Intl Halal Showcase in April.”

He emphasised that PEIE is always keen to be present in such exhibitions in order to maximise the benefits reflected on the Omani companies as well as bringing together the largest number of Omani firms and factories that represent various sectors under one platform. This will also support Origin Oman campaign that aims at promoting and marketing Omani products and thus find new markets for these products at local, regional and international levels.
