MUSCAT: Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, met the President of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadev on Saturday within the framework of his current visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Council. Ogtay Asadev thanked Dr Al Mantheri for participating in the centennial celebrations. He noted the status of relations between the two countries and expressed future aspirations for their development and expansion to include various areas of cooperation, especially with regard to the exchange of experiences in the field of parliamentary work.
Dr Al Mantheri expressed his pleasure to participate in the celebrations, and pointed out that the celebration reflects the legacy of parliamentary practice in Azerbaijan. He highlighted the development of the Shura practice in the Sultanate and reviewed the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentary fields. Both sides engaged in a comprehensive and constructive discussion on many topics of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by a number of Azerbaijani officials. The State Council delegation will return to the Sultanate on Sunday.
