MUSCAT, Sept 19 - The Oman Football Association (OFA) and ‘toofa.om’ sports website announced that they will launch ‘the best’ awards for top players, coaches at the Omantel League. “Sports have significant following in Oman. ‘The best’ awards will aim to adopt the culture of excellence and team work among the clubs,” Salim al Wahaibi, OFA’s chairman said. “The first edition of best awards will feature only Omantel League while we will consider in coming seasons to add all the leagues and categories in coordination with our media partner toofa.om website,” Al Wahaibi added. ‘The best awards’ is a yearly voting system. It is organised by the OFA in cooperation with toofa.om sports website and some private sectors companies.
This year’s awards will cover only the Omantel League through selection of best players and coaches. As many as 13 categories will be selected for the awards including: best player, best midfielder, best defender, best goalkeeper, best attacker, best team fans, best referee, best coach, best administrator and best website to cover Omantel League. The evaluation committee comprised of some technical, media representatives, former players and others. The fans can vote for 50 per cent, while the committee will vote for the rest percentage. Later this season, OFA and toofa.om will unveil the winners of the the first edition.
