Muscat Airport opening: No dates finalised yet, MoTC refutes speculations

The Ministry of Transport and Communications said that that is closely following the reports circulating in the social media about the possible date of opening of the new Muscat International Airport, which is high speculative.

The ministry said that the no date has been determined and all dates circulated in the media are only speculative by nature. The Ministry said that great efforts have been exerted by all parties in preparation for the operation, including obtaining the necessary permits and the tests to judge the preparedness of the terminal buildings,equipment and of that other operations. The ministry concluded that the airport will not be operated unless all systems are fully operational.


Andreas Spaeth, an aviation based journalist in Germany, had tweeted that the new airport will be opened on November 23 and will be ready to accept passengers from March 2018.
