Muscat to host English Premier League trophy

MUSCAT, Oct 2 - Muscat will host Premier League trophy on Friday as part of the ‘basic skills of football’ programme which will be organised by British Council in cooperation with England Football Association and Oman Football Association (OFA). The coveted trophy will be available at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on October 5 and 6. Moreover, the organisers selected another public place for fans as the cup will be at Avenues Mall in Al Ghubra on Friday. All fans can take memorable photos with the cup.


The ‘basic skills of football’ programme will include in first day participation of series of national coaches. As many as 24 coaches will take part in the programme. The sessions of programme will begin in the morning at 8 am through detailed explanation of a successful coach. The theory session will be followed by practical session at the SQSC grounds. Another theoretical session will be titled as ‘proper planning for the training sessions’ and followed by practical session.


On the second day, the participating coaches will get to know more details of different tactics of training. Taking care of children while they play football will be explained. Also, there will be 50 children who will take part in the group activities to play football and some other sports activities. A simplified football festival will be arranged for children.


The ‘Basic skills of football’ programme started in 2007 and it is a joint venture between British Council in cooperation with England Football Association. It is aimed for using football to encourage coaches and referees around the world to join the football world. From the starting year, more than 20,000 beneficiaries took part in the programme representing 29 countries and it trained more than million and half of children around the world.
