MUSCAT, Feb 21 -
Under the auspices of Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar Governorate, the Muscat International Book Fair 2018 was opened in the presence of Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information, and Head of the Main Committee of the Fair, and high ranking official from various ministries, Public Authorities and public and private sectors at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday.
More than 28 countries are participating in this year’s Book Fair which is a substantial increase compared to last year, the Minister of Information noted.
As many as 878 corners showcasing a diverse range of more than 500,000 titles are up for grab during the 11 days of the expo.
“Muscat International Book Fair has been growing year after year and as we reached the 23rd edition of the annual festival of titles, writers and publishers, MIBF has become a one of its kind in the region to visit to grab the favourite titles”, Al Hasani added.
“We have organised the Fair keeping in mind the students, families and children and there will be cultural events and scholastic lectures on each day”, he added.
