MUSCAT: The Cultural Committee of Muscat Festival 2019 in, cooperation with the Omani Society for Writers and Literati, announced the launch of Muscat Festival Cultural Competition. The contest is dedicated to poetry in the areas of poetry and vernacular poetry or ‘people’s poetry’. The competition comes as a new addition to the cultural scene in the Sultanate and a desire to raise the spirit of creative competition and promotion of literary writing in various fields of arts and cope with the cultural and intellectual movement, as well as supporting the Omani writer in his literary career. The jury will select the best three poems in poetry and the best three poems in vernacular poetry. The competition will be also exclusive for Omani poets. November 22 is the deadline for receiving the poems for the competition. — ONA
