Lean training held at OEPPA

By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: MAY 13 – As part of utilising the resources for maximum results and for reducing residue in the production process, a one-day workshop on Lean Management was conducted for the senior officials of the Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA) by an HSE expert from PDO on Thursday. Ahmed al Aghbari, senior executive of HSE at PDO escorted the chief officials through a 4-hour intellectual journey of introducing the nuances of Lean Management, scope and benefits as well as the long term advantages that an organisation can derive through effective implementation of the same.
“Today’s Lean event is an awareness on the programme and the way of thinking in common manner how to gain most of the value from utilising the resources effectively”, says Ahmed al Aghbari. “It’s all about removing waste from a process and trying to streamline the process”, he adds. He further said that companies that have an effective Lean in practise have achieved substantial results in term of its overall productivity and achieving its goals in a timely manner. PDO, for that matter, has achieved manifold results just by applying Lean management in its work ethos.
“Yet another advantage of Lean in public management sector is that it reduces time consumed by several times. A classic example to the benefits achieved with Lean is that a process of environmental inspection where we reduced the time from 40 days to 2 hours”, Al Aghbari added.
Lean technically indicates creating more value for customers with fewer resources. A lean organisation understands customer value and focuses its key processes to continuously increase it.
The ultimate goal is to provide perfect value to the customer through a perfect value creation process that has zero waste.
“Lean is a way forward; a way of life one can apply both at work and personal life”, Ahmed al Aghbari said.
