Iranian delegation visits CMA

MUSCAT: Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Salmi, Executive President of the Capital Market Authority (CMA), on Tuesday received a delegation from Iran headed by Dr Seyed Ahmad Araghchi, Board Member of Securities and Exchange Organisation of Iran (SEO), two members of the SEO executive management and Tehran Stock Exchange, in addition to representatives of the Central Securities Depositary of Iran. The two sides reviewed cooperation between CMA and the Iranian market, the Omani experience in regulating the capital market and stages of development experienced by the market sector.
It also focused on trading in Muscat Securities Market (MSM), the legislative and supervising regulations that ensure the proper performance of the market operations and at the same time keeping pace with technological developments so as to enhance the confidence level of dealers in the market.
The Iranian delegation’s visit comes within the framework of the close ties between the Sultanate and Iran and to promote ways of joint cooperation, exchange of experience and information among regulators overseeing the capital market sector so as to contribute to the development of the legislative and regulatory framework for securities markets. — ONA
