Fatal morning accident in Salalah sparks debate

Salalah: A fatal accident this morning in Salalah has sparked debate on the need for road safety dividers in the Rabat street of Salalah.

Two Omani women lost lives in a major collision that involved five vehicles coming from opposite directions, local sources confirmed to the Observer.

Social media posts on the accident demanded adequate safety measures on one of the busiest and important roads in the city.

Dhofar Municipality said the unlicensed concrete road dividers were removed some time back and they are awaiting approval from the relevant authorities for its reinstatement.

Dhofar Municipality in a statement said the Minister of State and the Governor of Dhofar has already addressed the concerned authorities on the need to make a concrete barrier in the Middle Island of Rabat Street in Salalah, because of its importance to traffic safety.
