SALALAH: Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, performed the Eid al Fitr prayers at Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Salalah on Monday morning.
Sayyid al Busaidy was accompanied by Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, honourable members of the State Council, members Majlis Ash’shura, officials and shaikhs of the Governorate of Dhofar, citizens and residents.
Muslim bin Ali al Masshali, Imam and Preacher of Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Salalah led the prayer. He addressed in his Khutba (sermon) many meanings and lessons learned in solidarity, cooperation, mercy, unity, coexistence, love and harmony embodied in the rituals of religion and its functions.
He pointed out that Allah the Almighty has called for unity and warned of the division in the Holy Quran “Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore, serve Me (and no other),” explaining that if the unity is broken, countries lose harmony and undermine security, stressing the importance of unity in men and in word.
He added that the Muslim should follow the path of moderation in his dress, food and drink and keep away from excess and intimidation, explaining that the Muslim must show joy and pleasure in good character, humility and kinship.
At the end of his sermon, he appealed to Allah the Almighty to ensure many happy returns of the day for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and bestow on him blessings of success.
