Dhahirah Governorate receives HM Cup for School Hygiene

MUSCAT: The Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Al Dhahirah on Wednesday received His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Cup for School Hygiene for the academic year 2016-2017. The presentation ceremony was held at Ibri College of Applied Science under the auspices of Shaikh Mohammed bin Said al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, in the presence of Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, and Shaikh Saif bin Humair al Shehhi, Governor of Al Dhahirah. The ceremony included singing of patriotic songs by the students.


Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamdan al Toobi, Adviser at the Ministry of Education, said the aim of the award “was to encourage maintenance of hygiene and health in schools”. He appreciated team work which fetched Al Dhahirah the top place in this competition. “Emerging from the development aspects that embraced various sides of educational systems and to further framing and organising the course of the competition and other aspects of school activities under one umbrella, a new competition has been created to be named Sultan Qaboos Award for Sustainable Development in the School Environment as of the next academic year,” he added.


The new award aims at building an integrated personality for students, equipping them with the skills needed to deal with contemporary issues, diversifying their creative abilities and improving their scientific competence. While the Al Dhahirah got the first, North Al Batinah won the second followed by the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah in the third place.
