A baby girl (little over two years) died due to suffocation after she was left behind in a locked car in Saham. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon. It is not known how and why the toddler was left behind alone in the car. “It is difficult to blame anyone without knowing the facts,” said people close to the family. According to sources, the child and her parents got out of the car after it was parked in front of their house on Saturday afternoon. A few minutes later, the child returned to the car.

On finding her missing from home, parents started looking for her in and around the house, only to find her unconscious in the car.

These are not isolated incidents.

A few days ago, two young girls were found dead inside a car in Sharjah. They had locked themselves inside the car.

Parents should be careful during summer as children often venture out to play inside vehicles.

They should ensure cars left behind are locked. According to Zainab, a mother of three children, “Recently, my kid was playing inside the house and suddenly went missing. Later, I found him playing inside the car. Unfortunately, the car wasn’t locked.

It was extremely hot inside. We are lucky he didn’t suffer any serious harm.”
