Boost to bilateral relations with Thailand

BANGKOK: A session of political consultations was held on Wednesday between the Sultanate and Thailand at the Thai Capital, Bangkok.


The Sultanate’s side was led by Dr Mohammed bin Awadh al Hassan, Acting Under-Secretary for Diplomatic Affairs in the Foreign Ministry, while the Thai side was led by Panyarak Poolthup, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The consultations session discussed means of promoting the bilateral relations and enhancing them to serve the joint interests of the two friendly countries, besides touching on several regional issues of common concern.


The two sides agreed on the importance of coordination and consultation between the two foreign ministries, stemming from the keenness of their leaderships to follow up the progress of cooperation and to develop it towards greater horizons.


The session was attended from the Omani side by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Qatabi, Head of the Asian Department in the Foreign Ministry, and Abdullah bin Saleh al Maimani, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Thailand, while it was attended from the Thai side by Director General of South Asia, Middle East and Africa Affairs Department and a number of officials in the Thai Foreign Ministry. — ONA
