SALALAH: In celebration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Salalah College of Technology in partnership with Salalah Methanol Company conducted a lecture on the need and importance of occupational safety and health.
Marking the Day, which falls on April 28 every year, a presentation was held at the SCT Multi-Purpose Hall recently and was well participated by students and staff.
Naseem al Yafai, a trainee of Salalah Methanol Company, and a graduate of the engineering department of SCT gave an excellent induction and presentation about SMC while Salalah Methanol’s HSE Manager, Saad al Minhali gave an interactive and informative presentation on the importance of health and safety in organisations.
He also provided some statistics about incurrence of accidents in the Sultanate due to malpractices related to health and safety. Participants were also given the chance to
raise questions during the Q&A time.
Dr Said Omar al Mashikhi, the college Assistant Dean for Academics, gave a plaque of appreciation to Al Minhali.
