Muscat, August 26 - It will take a month or two to assess the demand for the Muscat-Shinas-Khasab bus-ferry service, said a top official from Mwasalat.
Ahmed al Balushi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mwasalat, said the bus was fully booked for the first trip on August 24.
“The service has been offered free now. May be after a month or two we will know the actual demand.”
In order to encourage citizens and residents experience this unique combination of bus and ferry trip, the service has been offered free until August 31.
During the promotion period, special rates have been offered for the people of Musandam, with a 50-per cent discount for children from three to 12 years, and free travel for children under three years.
The National Ferries Company (NFC) has decided to increase passenger and vehicle capacity on the line by using the Hormuz ferry, which can carry more than 190 passengers and more than 40 vehicles.
