Muscat jewellery expo unveils latest designs

MUSCAT: The 8th Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition (MIJEX 2017) began at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Tuesday under the title “Discover the Treasures in Oman”. The opening ceremony of the five-day exhibition was held under the patronage of Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He stressed the importance of the exhibition as an ideal platform for exhibitors’ commercial business that allows the consumer to see the latest designs in the gold and jewellery


world.


The exhibition involves 70 companies and institutions specialised in gold and jewellery, besides jewellery agents from the Sultanate, Lebanon, India, Italy, Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey and the United States of America (USA). The previous edition of the exhibition succeeded in involving 25 thousand visitors while the current exhibition is expected to attract thousands of visitors of jewellery lovers. Precious stones and jewellery industry in the Sultanate has grown significantly at the local and international levels as the exports remarkably rose to $250 million in 2015. — ONA
