Day puts spotlight on role of anaesthesiologists in surgery

MUSCAT: The Oman Society of Anaesthesia and Critical Care in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) organised recently an awareness event on the celebration of The World Anaesthesia Day at Avenues Mall.


The event was held with the presence of Dr Maher bin Jaffer al Bahrani, Medical Affairs Deputy Director-General at Royal Hospital, as well as number of anaesthesiologists from Royal Hospital, Khoula Hospital, Al Nahda Hospital, along with anaesthesiologist from Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), Armed Forces Hospital (AFH), and anaesthesiology residents from


Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB).


The event aimed at identifying the anaesthesia services to the public and raising awareness on the role an anaesthesiologist plays in the safe conduct of surgery.


It included educational exhibition with various stations ranged from pre-surgery procedure, basic life support, and labour analgesia station.


Free consultation was also provided by Pain Team from Royal Hospital for people wanting to come for further advice for their ailments.


Moreover, the celebration involved a section for children where they were dressed up as doctors.
