Sufism, known as tasawwuf in the Arabic-speaking world, is a form of mysticism that emphasizes introspection and spiritual closeness with God. Sufi practice focuses on the renunciation of worldly things, purification of the soul and the mystical contemplation of God’s nature. Sufi music is the devotional music of the Sufis, inspired by the works of Sufi poets.

Bait Al Zubair Foundation in cooperation with Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa is presenting the Bait Al Zubair First Festival for Sufi Music with the participation of International bands from Iran, Pakistan, Oman, and Morocco on January 29 to February 1, 2018 at 7:15pm at Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, Muscat.

The opening day of the festival saw the band Salar Aghili from Iran perform. On Tuesday night, the Omani band Al Zawya performed and tonight Farid Ayaz Qawal band from Pakistan is lined up to perform, which would be an interesting experience under the blue moon. The festival concludes on Thursday with the performance of Ibn Arabi band from Morocco.

This event is a part of Bait Al Zubair Foundation’s aim to promote the Sultanate’s rich culture in the performing arts.
