SALALAH, Jan 17 -
The Awqaf and Religious Affairs department in Dhofar opened a course in Holy Quran at Fatima Al Zahra School in Salalah on Wednesday. The course launch happened under the auspices of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Khatib, Chairman of the Conciliation and Reconciliation Committee in Dhofar. Present on the occasion were Dr Ahmed bin Ali bin Mubarak al Kaabi, Director General of the Directorate of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Dhofar Governorate, Directorate officials and dignitaries from Salalah.
The school principal hailed the new course as value addition to the school, which, according to her, is playing an important role in building a society based on empowerment of women.
“The new course would offer religious, cultural and intellectual aspects of the Holy Quran along with its interpretations, which are relevant to current situations,” she said.
The school, according to the principal, has five halls for teaching the Holy Quran and offering religious guidance classes, each of which can accommodate about 20 learners.
Anwar bin Abdullah Ba Omar, Assistant Director of the Department of Preaching and Imam Affairs, called introduction of the new course an important addition in the field of teaching and memorising the Holy Quran.
