Salalah: Salam Air’s Muscat-Kathmandu flight (Airbus 320) had to be diverted to an Indian airport due to bad weather in Nepal.

The flight (OV 201) had left Muscat International Airport on Tuesday at 4.20 am and was scheduled to reach Kathmandu at 8.55 am. Due to non-conducive weather conditions in Nepal, the flight got diverted towards nearest city in India - Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport in Patna.

Confirming the flight diversion, a source in Salam Air said the Muscat-Kathmandu flight landed in Patna, waited for a while and reached its destination after getting go ahead signal from Kathmandu Air Traffic Control (ATC).

The flight landed at JPNI Airport at 9.56 am and left for Kathmandu at 11.30 am on Tuesday.

“The flight has returned to Muscat as well,” the Salam Air sources confirmed.
