Supreme Committee ends school year, upholds Muscat lockdown

Muscat: The Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic held a new meeting here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.


Due to the persistent proliferation of Coronavirus in some areas and, to protect all members of society from infection, the committee decided to continue the lockdown of the Governorate of Muscat till 10pm of Friday, May 29, 2020.


The Supreme Committee also decided to end the School Year (2019-2020), so that Thursday, May 7,2020 will be the last day of the school year.


The committee authorized the Ministry of Education to endorse a suitable alternative to calculate results for promotion classes from class 1 to 12 and their equivalents.


The committee exhorts all members of society to stick to measures of prevention from Coronavirus disease, notably precautions of social distancing and avoidance of assembling or any gatherings.


At the conclusion of its statement, the Supreme Committee prayed to the Almighty Allah to protect all people against all harms. --ONA
