MUSCAT, OCT 27
Qurayat and Al Amerat maintained their perfect starts to the second stage of the 2026/27 Women’s Futsal League after claiming contrasting victories in the third round at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
Qurayat prevailed 4-3 in a closely fought encounter with Masirah, while Al Amerat produced a dominant attacking display to defeat Al Shabab 10-1. The two results took Qurayat and Al Amerat to six points from two matches and strengthened their positions in the title race.
The meeting between Qurayat and Masirah provided the most competitive contest of the round, with little separating the teams throughout the match. Qurayat eventually held on for a one-goal victory to secure their second successive win.
Having opened their second-stage campaign with a 4-1 victory over Al Bashayer, Qurayat once again showed their ability to deliver in an important match. Their latest result gives them maximum points from their opening two fixtures and adds further momentum to their challenge.
Masirah entered the contest hoping to build on their emphatic 8-1 win over Al Shabab in the previous round. However, they were unable to complete their comeback against Qurayat and suffered their second defeat of the stage, having also lost 6-2 to Al Amerat in the opening round.
AL AMERAT SINK AL SHABAB
Al Amerat were in commanding form in the evening fixture, scoring 10 times against Al Shabab to record their second victory in as many matches.
They had begun the second stage with a convincing win over Masirah before sitting out the following round. Their return to action underlined their attacking quality as they controlled the contest and repeatedly found a way through the Al Shabab defence.
The heavy defeat extended Al Shabab’s difficult run to three matches. They opened with a 9-0 loss to Al Bashayer before falling 8-1 to Masirah and then 10-1 to Al Amerat. The team remain without a point and will need to improve defensively as they seek a response in the coming rounds.
Qurayat and Al Amerat now have six points each from two outings, while Masirah remain on three points after three matches. Al Bashayer, who had a rest day in the third round, also have three points, while Al Shabab are yet to open their account.
With the second stage being played in a double round-robin format, the five clubs still have further opportunities to strengthen their positions. Qurayat and Al Amerat will look to preserve their winning momentum, while Masirah, Al Bashayer and Al Shabab aim to close the gap as the title race develops.
