Organised by the Directorate-General of Education in Al Batinah North Governorate, the event brings together 1,358 male and female students from schools across the governorate, competing in three main categories. The student scientific innovations category drew 342 teams, while 263 teams are competing in educational robotics across its three tiers, alongside 74 teams in the unmanned aerial vehicles category. The final competitions among teams qualifying from the preliminary rounds continue until October 29.
The broad participation reflects the growing interest of students in the governorate's schools in scientific innovation, robotics and artificial intelligence, and the directorate's commitment to an educational environment that fosters creativity, nurtures talent and hones skills, preparing a generation able to compete in scientific and innovation forums at national and international levels.
The competition aims to identify gifted students, develop their skills in science, technology, engineering and innovation, and strengthen their capacity for creative thinking and problem-solving. It encourages students to apply their knowledge in designing projects that offer practical solutions, serve the community and keep pace with technological developments.
It forms part of the Ministry of Education's efforts to strengthen the innovation environment in schools, fostering research, experimentation, teamwork and positive competition, and developing students' ability to turn creative ideas into scientific projects capable of further development. — ONA
