MUSCAT: Oman is seeking French investment in energy, advanced technology, infrastructure and healthcare through closer engagement with companies whose expertise and expansion plans match the country’s economic diversification priorities.

Invest Oman hosted a meeting with representatives of the French business community, organised in cooperation with Oman’s embassy in France and MEDEF International, to explore potential projects and partnerships.

Ibtisam bint Ahmed al Farooji, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion, and Ahmed bin Mohammed al Araimi, Oman’s Ambassador to France, attended the meeting.

Discussions covered energy, renewables and hydrogen, water and resource management, waste-to-energy, space technology, transport, infrastructure, engineering, digital technologies and healthcare.

Al Farooji said France was an important market in Oman’s efforts to attract investment, with the current focus on matching available opportunities to investors’ requirements and international growth plans.

“Through these meetings, we seek to move the dialogue with the business community beyond introducing opportunities towards understanding investors’ needs and identifying areas of alignment with priority sectors in Oman,” she said.

“We view French companies as important partners, given their expertise, technologies and capabilities, which can contribute to advancing quality projects and strengthening value chains in Oman’s economy.”

The meeting forms part of Invest Oman’s approach to identifying companies with investment potential, examining their business activities and growth strategies, and connecting them with suitable projects.

The aim is to turn initial business engagement into sustained investment and commercial partnerships supporting Oman’s economic diversification.

Al Araimi said relations between Oman and France provided a foundation for expanding cooperation between their business communities.

“Engagement between the business communities of Oman and France represents an important opportunity to take economic relations into broader areas,” he said.

“We are keen to provide platforms that enable French companies to gain a direct understanding of the opportunities offered by Oman’s market and explore areas of cooperation that align with their expertise and international aspirations.”

Participants included representatives of French companies across several industries, business networks and organisations specialising in consulting, finance, legal services and healthcare, alongside French government entities.

Their participation broadened the scope for cooperation in investment, knowledge exchange and specialised services.
