Muscat: When you meet Aathi, he does not look like a man who can tell your ATM PIN. Dressed casually at a cafe in Bausher, the renowned mentalist, who is in Muscat for his acclaimed show 'INSOMNIA', laughs and says, "I don't have superpowers. I just observe what others ignore."

In an exclusive chat with Oman Daily, Aathi opens up about fear, sleepless nights, and why Muscat was on his bucket list and how he observes people

“To succeed in life, one needs to know people and not their minds. I don't read minds, All I do is I read people. Your body language, your micro-expressions, your choices - they tell a story. I have spent 12 years studying human behaviour. If it feels real, it is real for you,” he said in an interview with the Observer.

Aathi views the human mind as an unexplored landscape built on discipline, awareness, and profound human connection rather than simple magic tricks. Key aspect of this perspective is the alignment of body and mind,

“When a person's physical state and mental focus are fully synchronised, the mind can achieve extraordinary levels of perception that most people rarely imagine for themselves. Everyday gateways, simple actions such as an ordinary handshake, are not just social greetings; instead, they are subtle gateways to observing a person's immediate thoughts, behavioural traits, and psychological patterns,” he advocates.

He emphasises that what looks like mind-reading or thought manipulation is actually the result of intense situational awareness, intuition, psychology, and years of quiet training.

“Rather than just performing cold tricks, these shows aim to hold up a mirror to human vulnerability, prompting spectators to question the hidden corners, biases, and capabilities of their own consciousness.”

Aathi's show, organized by Global Events, which has already created a buzz on social media in Oman, will be staged on Friday, October 9, at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) hall in Bausher.

“Insomnia is not about not sleeping. It is about a mind that refuses to switch off. We all have that at 2 AM - overthinking, memories, and fears. My show is about that sleepless mind. For three hours, I will take the audience inside their own head. The numbers will blow your mind, but the emotions will stay with you,” he said.

Q: This is your first big show in Oman. What are you bringing that Muscat has not seen before?

Aadhi: This is not a magic show. There are no rabbits, no cards. This is pure mentalism - thought reading, predictions, psychological influence. It is immersive. The audience is not just watching; they are part of the experiment. I have designed some routines exclusively for the GCC audience.
