MUSCAT: Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has announced the appointment of Eng Zahir Mohammed al Busaidi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), reaffirming the company’s commitment to advancing its institutional objectives, strengthening the stability, reliability, and efficiency of the electricity grid, empowering national talent, advancing its strategic priorities, and driving continued growth, development, and operational excellence.


Eng Zahir al Busaidi brings more than 27 years of extensive leadership and professional experience across various areas of the energy sector, including electricity generation and transmission, oil and gas, engineering consultancy, strategic leadership, and governance. Throughout his career, he has leveraged his extensive expertise to contribute to the development of the energy sector and advance its operational and strategic requirements through the various leadership positions he has held.


His appointment reflects OETC’s commitment to investing in national talent, fostering innovation and operational efficiency, supporting the delivery of strategic projects, and strengthening governance, risk management, and sustainability practices. This comes at a time when the Company continues its efforts to advance Oman’s electricity transmission infrastructure, enhance the reliability, security, and efficiency of the network, meet the growing demand for electricity, and support the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient power system. These efforts are aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and reinforce OETC’s role in supporting economic and social development across Oman.


OETC is responsible for the transmission network and load dispatch across the national grid, covering all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The company also manages interconnections with the GCC Interconnection Grid at 220 kV and operates under the Nama Group framework to support Oman’s vision of building a secure, reliable, and sustainable electricity ecosystem.
