China-based battery-swapping solutions provider TYCORUN is stepping up its electric mobility rollout in Oman with a new delivery comprising 200 electric motorcycles, 600 swappable batteries and 14 battery-swap cabinets, as the Sultanate accelerates efforts to electrify its fast-growing last-mile delivery sector.

Guangzhou-headquartered TYCORUN announced recently that the latest batch of its Oman project had entered production and delivery, describing the package as an integrated “vehicle, battery and cabinet” solution designed for commercial fleet operations and urban delivery.

The 600 batteries are 76V 40Ah lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) units, each providing around 3.04 kWh of nominal energy, equivalent to approximately 1.8 MWh across the batch. TYCORUN says the chemistry offers thermal stability and long cycle life suited to Oman’s high-temperature operating environment.

The swap cabinets are designed to address one of the principal operational constraints associated with electric delivery fleets: charging downtime. Instead of parking motorcycles for conventional charging, riders exchange depleted batteries for charged units, potentially allowing intensive delivery fleets to remain in service for longer periods.

“Oman is actively advancing energy diversification and green transportation,” said Raymond Li Yungui, Chairman of TYCORUN, adding that battery swapping could improve mobility efficiency while reducing operating costs and emissions.

Significantly, TYCORUN has identified BYOD as its client and battery-swapping network operator in Oman. Muscat-based BYOD is an electric mobility solutions provider and fleet operator focused on electrifying last-mile transportation through electric motorcycles and battery-swapping infrastructure, working with partners to develop a scalable e-mobility ecosystem in the Sultanate.

In an earlier September announcement, TYCORUN said BYOD's network runs on its equipment and technology, encompassing electric motorcycles, batteries, swap cabinets and a supporting cloud platform.

The latest deployment builds on electric-mobility initiatives already under way in Oman. In May, BYOD joined Shell Oman and Talabat Oman in launching a pilot involving 10 electric motorcycles for last-mile deliveries. The motorcycles were officially registered with the Royal Oman Police, while the trial was designed to assess performance, reliability, rider experience and charging infrastructure requirements.

Oman's push has since widened considerably. In September, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology unveiled plans for a gradual transition of the express-delivery industry towards electric motorcycles, supported by technical standards, financing options and charging and battery-swapping infrastructure.

At the Gulf Green Mobility Forum, agreements were also announced covering a unified national battery-swapping ecosystem, 300 electric motorcycles serving delivery platforms including Talabat, and another 100 motorcycles with dedicated swapping stations. The government's broader Green Rapid Delivery initiative targets the conversion of 1,450 delivery motorcycles to electric operation.

Against this backdrop, TYCORUN's latest shipment signals a transition from relatively small demonstration fleets towards larger-scale commercial deployment. Together with BYOD's emerging operating network, it could help establish battery swapping as an important enabling technology for the electrification of Oman's last-mile logistics sector.
