MUSCAT: The Ministry of Information won six awards at the 26th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival held in Tunisia.
The documentary Arabian Humpback Whale won first prize in the documentary film and programme category.
The talk show Youth Talk won first prize in the talk show category at the television competition.
The news report Apricot Blossom Season in Wakan Village won second prize in the news report category.
In the cultural programmes category, the programme What the Shadow Said won first prize.
In the economic programme category, the programme Hands That Bear Fruit won first prize.
The programme Al Farahidi won first prize in the drama category.
The achievement is the fruition of the ministry’s efforts to elevate the Omani media standing. It is the culmination of several stages in the production of media content and reflects the diversity of media production, the integration of efforts, and the harmony among qualified media professionals.
Mohammed bin Said al Balushi, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Information, said that the ministry, represented by Oman Radio and Television and the News Centre, winning six awards at the Arab Radio and Television Festival marks a qualitative shift in the level of Omani media participation.
Al Balushi noted that winning awards at this prestigious festival, which features the participation of Arab media institutions with extensive experience, reflects the level of development the Omani media has attained.
Winning the awards is a testament to the efforts the ministry has undertaken to elevate radio, television, and news content to a higher level at the Arab and international media, the under-secretary said, adding that this achievement reflects the attention accorded to the Omani talents through training and professional development at the Media Training Centre. — ONA
