AL SUWAIQ: The Ministry of Information will inaugurate the digital terrestrial radio and television transmission station in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq on Sunday. This is part of the ministry’s projects to digitise terrestrial television broadcasting and enhance digital television coverage in a number of governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman.
Said bin Mohammed al Shraiqi, Director-General of Engineering at the Ministry of Information, said that the digitisation of terrestrial television broadcasting is in line with global developments in the field of digital terrestrial television broadcasting. He explained that the first phase of the project involved the execution of 69 television transmission stations distributed across various governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman.
He added that the second phase of the project covers a number of areas that were not covered by the service, and includes the establishment of three new transmission stations in the wilayats of Al Suwaiq, Suhar, and Bidiyah.
He said that the Al Suwaiq station will cover the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq and its surrounding areas, adding that the digital terrestrial television broadcasting project is one of the Ministry of Information’s strategic projects, as it provides an integrated terrestrial broadcasting system that can be controlled and managed by Oman TV and the Ministry of Information, thus enhancing service continuity and operational efficiency. — ONA
