Oman’s 2026–27 basketball season will tip off in mid-October, with five competitions for men, women and youth teams forming a domestic calendar that runs through March 2027. Approved by the Oman Basketball Association’s (OBA) Competitions Committee, the programme brings together the national league, two cup competitions and championships at Under-16 and Under-19 levels, providing clubs with competitive opportunities across different age groups.
The Under-16 Championship will open the season in mid-October and continue until the end of December. Ten clubs will compete: Nizwa, Seeb, Saham, Oman Club, Qurayat, Al Amerat, Salalah, Al Bashayer, Fanja and Masirah.
With the largest field among the scheduled competitions, the tournament will give younger players regular match experience while allowing clubs to assess and develop their emerging talent.
The Oman Basketball League will begin in late October and run until January 2027. Al Bashayer, Seeb, Nizwa, Salalah and Masirah will contest the title, with the same five clubs also scheduled to take part in the Federation Cup later in the season.
October will also feature the Credit Oman Cup for men and women, with competitions scheduled for October 25 and 27. Al Bashayer and Seeb are listed as the participating clubs in the association’s calendar.
FEDERATION CUP
The Federation Cup, formerly known as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Shield, will take place during January and February 2027, giving the senior clubs another opportunity to compete for silverware.
Youth basketball will remain prominent in the second half of the season, with the Under-19 Championship beginning in January and continuing through March. Eight clubs have been included in the competition: Seeb, Nizwa, Salalah, Al Amerat, Oman Club, Masirah, Al Bashayer and Qurayat.
Matches will be staged at several venues, including the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, Sohar Sports Complex and Seeb Club’s sports hall, alongside halls belonging to other participating clubs.
The calendar spreads competitions across the season to support regular domestic activity and allow clubs to plan their preparations for each tournament. The two youth championships will also provide opportunities to identify and develop players capable of progressing to senior club sides and the national teams.
