Oman’s digital payments sector is expanding its use of integrated platforms that connect online transactions, point-of-sale (POS) services and remote payment collection as businesses seek to manage transactions across multiple channels.
AmwalPay, an Omani licensed PSP by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), has developed a platform bringing together a payment gateway in Oman, POS solutions and payment links, allowing businesses to process and monitor transactions across websites, applications and physical outlets.
The development reflects a broader shift towards omni-channel payments, with payment providers increasingly seeking to connect previously separate transaction channels and give merchants a consolidated view of payment activity and settlements.
AmwalPay said its payment gateway can be integrated with business websites, mobile applications and e-commerce stores. Its Shopify integration, alongside WooCommerce connectivity and application programming interfaces (APIs), enables businesses to connect payment processing with existing digital systems.
The company also offers Pay by Link, which allows merchants to send payment requests through WhatsApp, email and SMS without requiring customers to make payments through a physical terminal. The service can support remote payment collection in sectors including hospitality, travel, retail and professional services.
For businesses with physical locations, the platform provides POS terminals for accepting card payments. Transaction and device activity across branches can be monitored through a merchant portal and mobile application, providing businesses with real-time transaction visibility across their operations.
Connecting online payments, POS transactions and payment links within a single system can also help businesses consolidate their payment records across different channels.
The platform provides unified reconciliation, allowing finance teams to match transaction and settlement records within a common environment rather than manually combining reports generated by separate payment systems.
Khuzi Abdullah al Rawas, Co-Founder and CEO of AmwalPay, said the development of locally built financial technology could contribute to strengthening Oman’s technology capabilities.
“We believe Oman can be a source of technology and innovation, building companies that compete through expertise and the quality of their work,” Al Rawas said. “We have a responsibility to contribute to that ambition by building knowledge and capabilities, supporting our economy and creating new opportunities for businesses.”
Alongside merchant payment services, AmwalPay is developing technology for banks and financial institutions, including a Terminal Management System (TMS), merchant management tools, integration APIs and payment reporting.
“What we are building today is one step in a long-term vision. We want AmwalPay to become a trusted Omani name with a growing presence across the region,” Al Rawas said.
“That growth must be built on strong partnerships, continuous development and real value for our customers. We are proud of our roots in Oman and determined to carry that ambition into every stage of our journey.”
The expansion of locally developed payment infrastructure comes as Oman continues to advance digitalisation across its economy, with payment providers developing systems that connect online and in-store transactions while simplifying payment monitoring and reconciliation for businesses.
