

MUSCAT: The 27th Gulf Cup football championship is set to kick off next week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with Gulf teams looking to make strong starts and progress to the final stages of the competition. The tournament will be held from September 23 to October 6.
The Gulf Cup represents an important milestone for Oman’s national football team, which will be seeking positive results and aiming to add a third Gulf Cup title to its record, having previously won the championship in 2009 in Muscat and 2017 in Kuwait.
Oman will begin their campaign against Iraq on September 23, before facing hosts Saudi Arabia on September 26. They will conclude the group stage against Kuwait on September 29.
The Gulf teams are expected to compete strongly throughout the tournament as they seek to reach the latter stages and challenge for the title.
