Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IGRC) said it has shot down a second MQ-1 drone in airspace east of the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Mehr News Agency.
The IRGC said it was the second such incident since dawn on Tuesday.
Mehr said the latest incident brings to four the number of US-developed MQ-1s, mainly used for surveillance and reconnaissance, that Iranian forces have downed in recent days during operations in and around the strait.
IRGC on Monday reported that a US unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz.
"Moments ago, a U.S. MQ-1 unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz by the IRGC’s air defense system," the statement said.
The IRGC added that the UAV had been tracked and subsequently destroyed using the force’s new air defense system.
