Athum waterfalls come alive as rain batters parts of Dhofar Governorate

TAQA: Wadi Athum in the Wilayat of Taqah came alive forming an eye-catching scene as rain battered several parts of Dhofar Governorate, on Saturday.

Water poured down from the mountaintop, cascading between the rocks and slopes forming waterfalls that revitalised the wadi after a lull.

Early in the morning, the stunning scene of the fountains of Athum gradually unfolded. The water began to carve its path from the mountain cascading powerfully over the rocks, its roar echoing throughout the wadi in a natural spectacle created by continued rainfall.

The wadi transformed into an open space for capturing one of nature’s most beautiful sceneries that follows rainfall. Everyone raced against time to document the outset of water flow when dry rocks were transformed into pathways pulsating with water and life. The sound of water held a special significance in the place, as the roar of cascading waterfalls mingled with the continuous raindrops, creating a natural symphony that needed no extra effect. As the water crashed against the rocks and continued its descent, mist and low clouds enveloped the mountains, creating a scene that resembled a living masterpiece of nature's beauty.

Raindrops fell on the rocks, water gushed down from the heights, and the waterfalls continued their powerful flow, while expressions of wonder and joy were etched on the faces of the visitors who found themselves immersed in a unique natural experience.

The visitors were not merely spectators, they were part of the scene. Some stood for a long time contemplating the force of the rushing water, while others held their cameras or phones to capture the moments. Still others simply enjoyed the rainy atmosphere and the sound of the waterfalls that echoed in the area.

Wadi Athum is one of the natural wonders of Dhofar Governorate, particularly during rainfall when water flows down from the mountaintop. The wadi landscape transforms into a captivating scene, attracting nature lovers, photographers, and visitors seeking breathtaking scenery.
