The Jindal League enters its third round on Thursday with an early top of the table clash as Al Nahda host defending champions Seeb at Al Buraimi Sports Complex in the standout fixture of the week.
The round opens with three matches on Thursday before four more fixtures are played on Friday, with the standings still tightly packed after an intense start to the 2026-27 season. Four clubs, Seeb, Al Nasr, Oman Club and Al Nahda, have collected maximum points from their opening two matches, while Ibri and Sohar remain close behind with four points each.
Seeb lead the table on goal difference after scoring five goals and conceding once, while Al Nasr sit second, Oman Club third and Al Nahda fourth, all on six points. That makes the Al Nahda-Seeb meeting at 6:55 pm the key fixture of the round, as both sides look to protect their perfect start and make an early statement in the title race.
Seeb arrive in Buraimi with confidence after opening their title defence with a 3-1 win over Bahla before beating Sur 2-0 in the second round. Their attacking rhythm has been one of the early features of the competition, while their defensive control has helped them remain at the summit.
Al Nahda, meanwhile, have also shown strong early character. After beginning with a narrow victory over Al Musannah, they claimed a thrilling 3-2 away win over Al Shabab in the second round. That result lifted morale and confirmed their ability to handle pressure in major fixtures. Playing at home in Buraimi could give them an added push against the champions.
IBRI TAKE ON SAHAM
Thursday’s action begins at 5:40 pm when Ibri host Saham at Ibri Sports Complex. Ibri enter the match with four points and strong momentum after their 4-0 win over Samayil, one of the biggest results of the season so far. Saham, on three points, will aim to build on their 1-0 victory over Bahla and prove that their first win was more than a short reaction.
At 8 pm, Samayil meet Fanja at Nizwa Sports Complex in a match carrying different pressures for both sides. Samayil started with a win but suffered a heavy defeat to Ibri in the second round, while Fanja are still looking for their first point after back-to-back defeats left them at the bottom of the table.
The third round continues on Friday with Sur facing Bahla at Sur Sports Complex at 5:30 pm, Al Nasr meeting Al Musannah at Al Saada Sports Complex at 6:55 pm, Sohar hosting Dhofar at Sohar Sports Complex at 8 pm, and Oman Club taking on Al Shabab at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at 8 pm.
For Al Nasr and Oman Club, the round offers a chance to stay level with the leaders if the Buraimi summit produces dropped points. For Sohar and Ibri, victory would move them deeper into the early race, while the teams still searching for points know that the third round may already shape the pressure around their season.
