SALALAH: A new digital business platform linking Oman with African markets was launched in Salalah on Wednesday during the second Omani Afro-Chinese Business Forum.

The platform, oman-africa.com, was unveiled at the forum, held under the patronage of Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Vice-Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.

According to the forum programme, the multilingual platform is designed to provide electronic services and business packages aimed at facilitating trade and communication between companies in Oman and African markets.

The launch is intended to extend business engagement beyond the physical forum by giving companies a continuing channel to explore commercial links, investment opportunities and potential partnerships.

The second edition builds on the Omani-African Business Forum held in Muscat in 2025 and expands the format to include Chinese businesses and investors. Participating African markets include Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan and Djibouti.

Organisers said the wider aim is to move beyond introductions and networking towards partnerships, projects and agreements, with the formal sessions followed by direct business-to-business meetings between participating companies.
