JAALAN BANI BU HASSAN: As many as 136 competitors from the wilayats of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate took part in the preliminary rounds of the 34th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition, organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Royal Court.
The preliminary rounds of the competition were held at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan.
A total of 2,214 male and female contestants have registered for this year's competition, which comprises 7 levels of Holy Quran memorisation.
The competition aims to encourage Omanis to memorise the Holy Quran, groom a generation that masters Holy Quran recitation skills and enhance the Sultanate of Oman's presence in international Holy Quran competitions. - ONA
