Muscat: The average monthly income of an Omani household reached RO1,839.3 in 2025, marking an 18.5 per cent increase from RO1,552.6 recorded in 2018, according to the latest results of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey.
The findings were presented by Halima bint Yousuf Al Wahibiya, Director of the Population and Labour Force Statistics Department and Director of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey project at the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The project reviewed key findings, outputs and related aspects, while highlighting the importance of using artificial intelligence technologies to enhance the production of household income and expenditure indicators.
According to the results, the average monthly income of expatriate households stood at RO717.2 in 2025, compared with RO668.6 in 2018, representing a 7.3 per cent increase.
The overall average monthly household income reached RO1,392.8 in 2025, up 18.7 per cent from RO1,173.7 in 2018.
Household expenditure also increased during the same period. The average total monthly expenditure of Omani households reached RO1,058.8 in 2025, compared with RO931.4 in 2018, an increase of 13.7 per cent.
For expatriate households, the average total monthly expenditure rose to RO402 in 2025 from RO362 in 2018, representing an 11 per cent increase.
The overall average monthly household expenditure stood at RO798 in 2025, compared with RO687.5 in 2018, recording an increase of 15.9 per cent.
The project forms part of efforts to strengthen the production of reliable household income and expenditure indicators and support evidence-based policymaking through the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence.
