MUSCAT: Registration has opened for the 13th edition of the Omani Song Festival, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth inviting talented Omani singers to apply for the national music event scheduled from January 3 to 6, 2027.

The festival seeks to spotlight Omani singing talent, encourage musical creativity and strengthen the presence of Omani song at the local and regional levels.

It also provides a platform to celebrate musical achievements, discover emerging voices and foster greater interaction among singers, musicians and others involved in the arts.

According to the ministry, a key objective of the festival is to promote Omani artistic identity through the integration of four core elements — voice, melody, lyrics and musical arrangement. It also seeks to encourage the use of Omani rhythms, vocabulary and musical traditions while presenting them through contemporary artistic approaches.

The festival aims to support promising singers by providing opportunities to develop their skills, explore diverse artistic experiences and make informed creative choices. The ministry said the initiative is intended to help nurture artists capable of representing Omani song with a modern and sophisticated approach.

Participation is open to Omani singers aged between 18 and 39. Applicants are required to submit a video clip of themselves performing a song of their choice, demonstrating their vocal and performance abilities.

The submitted video must not exceed two minutes, while the deadline for receiving entries has been set for October 31, 2026.

The festival also seeks to strengthen cooperation between government institutions and the private sector in supporting cultural and artistic initiatives and creating a more vibrant environment for musical creativity.

By bringing together established and emerging talent, the Omani Song Festival continues to serve as a platform for celebrating the country’s musical heritage while encouraging innovation and new forms of artistic expression. - ONA
