ROP wins big in Chechnya tactical shooting championship

MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police Special Task Force was crowned by Chechen President Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov after securing first place in the International Open Tactical Shooting Championship for Special Forces Units, held in Chechnya from August 20 to 24.


The championship witnessed the participation of 41 teams from special task units and elite forces, alongside military tactical teams from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, and several Asian and Gulf countries.

Major Said bin Salem al Maamari, the Supervising Officer, said: "The championship involved 11 tactical competitions, which included advanced marksmanship, field operational skills, and various scenarios simulating real-life combat situations and security events."

Captain Khaled bin Ahmed Ba'amer, the team officer, expressed: "We outperformed all of the participating elite teams and special task units in the field. I can confidently say it wasn't luck — it reflects our rigorous training, sharp discipline, and high tactical skills."


The result highlights the team's ability to apply advanced marksmanship and tactical skills under demanding competitive conditions.


First Lieutenant Mohammed bin Hamed al Shidi, Public Relations Officer at the Special Task Police Command, said: "I am proud of this accomplishment, which reflects our high level of preparedness and efficiency in dealing with various security situations.

In addition, the results provide a strong international benchmark for the capabilities of the Special Task Force and its ability to perform under demanding tactical conditions.
