The Directorate-General for Consumer Protection in Dhofar Governorate has been teaching consumer rights and protection through a series of campaigns throughout the holiday season.
The Consumer Protection concluded its awareness activities at the Children's Theatre in Salalah Gallery, following a series of programmes that combined education and entertainment, including competitions and interactive segments, to promote consumer awareness concepts among children through simplified and engaging methods.
The programme had interactive segments, competitions, and awareness activities to reinforce children's awareness of their rights and improve their consumer behaviours in a style that blends knowledge with entertainment.
This year, an important part of the series of awareness campaigns has been the collaboration with Dhofar Municipality with the event "Mobile Food Safety Laboratory 2026", which saw diverse awareness segments targeting various age groups, contributing to enhancing consumer awareness through interactive and innovative methods.
The campaign included awareness-raising in sign language in collaboration with the Omani Society for Persons with Disabilities, alongside the deployment of virtual reality (VR) technology to deliver awareness using innovative interactive methods.
The Consumer Protection Authority continued its awareness efforts within the #YourAwarenessIsYourSafety campaign, where it participated in the events of the Advanced Scouts to raise awareness of consumer rights and introduce prohibited goods, alongside employing virtual reality (VR) technology to deliver awareness messages in an interactive manner.
The Consumer Protection Authority is also continuing its regulatory efforts within the #YourAwarenessIsYourSafety campaign by monitoring stores selling and tailoring school uniforms and abayas and verifying compliance with the applicable regulations and requirements, thereby contributing to the protection of consumer rights and the enhancement of market stability. Textile shops have also been monitored.
As part of the campaign, the Consumer Protection Office continued inspection tours in the markets to monitor providers' compliance with applicable legislation and regulations and to verify the clarity of prices and issuance of invoices, thereby enhancing consumer rights protection and supporting market stability.
The Authority also conducted an awareness programme on consumer protection for students at the summer centre of Al Saidiya Boys' School.
