Nepal trade delegation leaves after successful B2B meetings

This is the first-ever organised trade mission from the Himalayan nation to the Sultanate of Oman and it represented 15 companies across 28 sectors.

The delegation which aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, attracting investments in both countries and establishing long-term business partnerships with Omani companies, had fruitful meetings with officials of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, OCCI and private entities aiming at forging business partnerships.

"The delegation of entrepreneurs represented a diverse range of industries, including bottled water and beverages, spices, handicrafts, herbal and essential oil products, tea and coffee, carpets, woollen products, gems and jewellery, hand creams and other consumer goods; and they had very fruitful meetings with relevant parties", said Bishesh Kumar Sah, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat.

During their seven-day visit, the delegation met with leading Omani businesses and institutions, including Lulu Hypermarket, Hypermax and Nesto Hypermarket. The meetings were focused on introducing Nepalese products to the Omani market, exploring investment opportunities and building distribution partnerships.

The delegation also visited the Al Rusayl Industrial City to gain insights into regional commercial development and investment prospects.

"The visit representing a significant milestone in Oman-Nepal economic relations. This is the first organised business trade delegation from Nepal to Oman. We hope this initiative will open new avenues for trade, investment and collaboration, allowing businesses from both countries to benefit from stronger commercial ties”, the official said, adding that the delegation believes Oman offers promising opportunities as a gateway to the GCC market, while Nepalese products are gaining recognition for their quality, authenticity and competitive pricing.

During the programme, members of the delegation also paid tribute to the late Nadhira al Harthy, the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest, who recently passed away in Pakistan. They honoured her remarkable achievement and remembered her as an inspiration whose legacy transcended borders and reflected the enduring friendship between Oman and Nepal.
